i think his writing style in general was a bit more subtle (and natural!) than just an impression of your angry metal elitist (and i find this less far fetched having seen some of his "out of character" takes on music you wouldnt expect him to like)
i thought it was funny to do some throwbacks to that but when i saw how many idiots there still are in metal (a scant few even on this site) i kinda set that aside for good personally

Btw, despite almost exclusively listening to metal for many years, i always refused to see myself as metalhead, i just reject the narrow elitist mentallity of the average bloke, i strongly approve the practice of giving credit where credit is due, you only have this life to experience things, giving chance to new and exciting things should be the approach
