It really is. Surprised by some of the reactions to it, honestly. This is possibly the most pristine of his recordings on an aesthetic level. It's just gorgeous music.

This is not the future but I sense it's right up there,

Oh, just another hour, another pass, another day, anywhere

Finally listening to this

Sounds pretty similar to Dark Bird

Nothing like Wild Hunt though... Is his first album?

oh I misunderstood you. I'd say shallow grave definitely shares some similarities with the wild hunt, at least more so than his last two albums. his debut is a really close second for my favorite tallest man on earth, and sometimes I'm convinced it's on par with the wild hunt!

Yeah, agreed. Shallow Grave comes close, and I love the whole discography, but that album's unbelievable.

Have only heard his first 2 so far, shallow grave is currently my fave and will be very tough to beat. I should spin this within the next few days.

Dark Bird is incredible, so is this. People who try to marginalize his recent outings don't seem very open to him modifying his sound in the slightest.

yeah, I mean this is my least favorite of his full lengths, but it's still excellent. Dark Bird is Home came during a difficult time in my life, so some of the lyrics on that album really speak to me.
