i think there's plenty of blame to go around. now i have to go listen to this for the first time through some good cans and soak up the vibes.

There's no blame, pressing an EPs worth of material to a 12" vinyl doesn't turn it into an LP, simple as that

I only buy digital. Don't want that mess all over my house

why bother buying at all?

I've always preferred earphones to speakers. much more personal. and my earphones cost more than my hi-fi, lol

I just think Burial's music lends itself beautifully to headphones. The part in 'Ashtray Wasp' where it drops down into that really murky and grimy section - the "when darkness comes calling section" - really comes to life under headphones, there's just this delicious pop to it

It's much easier to immerse yourself when listening to headphones/earphones

Yeah definitely, even though a lot of the stuff I typically enjoy demand big room sound systems. But there's something truly intimate about Burial's work + I dig the fact that he lets the world around him influence not just his music, but how he listens to music. I think it was the same interview I reference in the review where he talks about just walking through the city listening to tunes and hearing the sounds of cars stuck in traffic and being on a bus and hearing snippets of conversations from the people around him. That's why you get odd samples in his music, the random "okay bye" right before the kick-off in 'Ashtray Wasp' for example

I wholeheartedly concur, but decent speakers just take the cake any day. I get why people cherish their cans, hell I do. But to me nothing beats hearing sound through a good two feet (or more) of air, whether it be dry, humid, cold or hot - there's something even more personal about it.

But Bevan's music seems to make me want to about face on those preferences. It's strangely haunting, yet revitalising all the same.

Kindred is the most mediocre piece of crap I've ever heard.

lol wow.

yesterday, I was listening to this, and I thought I heard my brother calling out my name. my

earphones are pretty isolating and I had it on a relatively high volume so I assumed it was just

another random sample implanted deep into the music and kept listening. turned out he was

Loner and Ashtray are out of this world, but Kindred the track is 3/5 at best. That's what I meant.
