took me a sec to realize what yall meant by beep. i kind of like it. it's relaxing and makes me feel like im in a submarine and music/sound is coming from outside, which, in my head, makes sense since gas sounds hella muffled

The new album is incredible..

Mostly I'm kind of deflated because he leans so strongly on stuff he's already made, and to me, previous versions of the Marsch tracks were superior.

yeah the beep is tough for me
wonder what the sample on der lange marsch 2 is: kinda reminds me of "a fool persists" from whatever that ambient group was, or more particularly the sample from which "a fool persists" is built

I dont know doesnt anyone else feel like there's this weird kinda like
laziness to Gas
even this album, which is probably the best and most iconic one it's just like. the subterranean beat one two three four one two three four and the samples/sounds placed on top of the steady beat feel like they're not treated with a particular level of care to me. they loop weirdly maybe. a steady beat is fine but neither element feels like it took very long which is also fine but idk
this is mostly hitting me with der lange marsch...genuinely disliking the fourth track. "4" on here is an absolute classic tune though, and I like "1" and "2" a lot too

it's the opposite of laziness to me idk it must take patience to keep a steady outline/drone throughout while also keeping things interesting
BUT i'm new to Gas. parts of 2 and 3 on the new one actually remind me "Journey to the Line" by Hans Zimmer from The Thin Red Line. just get this insanely poignant tug at the senses. kinda disappointed more don't seem to be all that obsessed with it around here :/

I do get that sense of laziness from the new one sadly. Don't get it from any of his other works up till this point though. It's his first misstep for me.

Yeah I’ve spent the last several days listening to this, Königsforst and the new one and love all 3 of them. Don’t think I’d rate any of them below a 4.3 but I’m looking forward to burning another day at work tomorrow listening to them some more :] I like the different mood each of these albums has. Maybe they’ll seem less unique once I finish his discog but DAMN is this guy exceptional

For sure! You've picked nice ones to start with, and there are some very different flavours waiting for you in his other works (anxiety in Zauberberg, old school in his debut, a fresh touch of acoustics on Rausch). He's a phenomenal artist indeed.

It is so wonderful agreed. That combo of the last two tracks is just phenomenal. Great pick for a fave. I think mine is currently Königsforst.
