GoD is really good too.

I feel like him wanting to get more into production and soundtracks and stuff like that kinda broke something in his creative process and it is sadly gone forever.

think I gotta slap a 5 on this bad boy. not quite as polished and cohesive as r plus but just as creative.

this is much more engaging than R Plus imo - polish on that one gets a little sterile. easily my fav OPN (haven't heard his older stuff though)

I don’t hate it; magic OPN wasn’t bad it just isn’t even close to the level everything up to r+7 was on

This has aged amazingly well and revealed itself over several spins to be one of his best albums.

one I really like that seems to be overlooked and/or not get much attention is Betrayed in the Octagon pay that one a visit on your journey

Yeah I've gotta hear that one, Russian Mind, and Returnal as well. Only OPN I'm unfamiliar with now; everything else I've played excessively at this point lol

Electronic act of the last ten years for me.

Definitely above Skee Mask for example.

The last two Current Value albums put him in the picture for me too.

Same. OPN has quietly become a top artist for me. An artist I always liked, but one I only started obsessively listening to over the last few months. Where other albums in the genre have had diminishing returns, his all seem to get considerably better the more I play them.

Skee Mask clears

OPN is nice but he hasn't made an album remotely as good and consistent as Compro or Pool.

Testo BC Mashup is a better tune than this guy will ever be able to make

I think both are great but not really that comparable. At least to my ears

Just my opinion. OPN has made some dope stuff but often times it seems like an idea or sample pops up in his mind and then he builds around it aimlessly without much structure or purpose. He's great at creating soundscapes and textures but often it kind of ends there.

Skee Mask is just as great at creating textures but leagues above when it comes to creating complimentary synths and the drum programming is not even a competition (hardly anyone comes close to him in that regard tbh). You could legitimately remove everything else but the drums from his tracks and that shit would still slap.

But I also agree that they aren't really comparable in terms of what they are trying to do but I didn't make the comparision lol

It wasn't so much saying who's the better craftsman as such (as stated above, going for different things in different genres) but rather in the scale and scope of what they've put out OPN just seems to have dominated my listening with mostly a high level of consistency and a load of variety.
