I love every track on this, but the title track automatically clicked the first time I heard it. The rest of the album followed suit within 2-3 days :p

"this is super accessible idk what the deal with all these 'grower' people is"
this is THE quintessential grower album. every one I know in real life that is obsessed with this album has a similar story of hating it/not getting the hype for years. there was even an article on pitchfork about it (maybe it was a review? i dont remember i dont go there that often)
obviously not everyone will have that relationship with this album but I think a shit ton of people do.

I do agree that this is accessible though. I mean I never hated it (I think my original rating was 3.5), I've always thought of it as a good folk-record, but it was something like 2 years after I first heard it that the album clicked with me and I finally understood what all the fuss was about. It's accessible yeah, but its status as a classic isn't. If that even makes sense (it doesn't).

I didn't like it the first time, but it clicked hard like the fourth listen

nah i get what you're saying but so many people are like i hated this and first and now it's a classic!!
like unless this is legitimately your first album of its genre i can't imagine how you could go from a 2 to a 5. there isn't that much beyond the first listen
(i love this btw just saying that most songs hit the first time around)

Romulus a lot of people seem to listen to this solely because of it's massive reputation, so i think for most this is probably their first album of the genre. not a lot of people listen to other elephant 6 fuzz folk or similar stuff then come here

Album Rating: 4.5
hm yeah that's a good point. although this is definitely much easier to get into than other elephant 6 bands-- the title track is like something i could just pick up my guitar one day and bust out. but that's the beauty of it
