Yeah first half up to Available and Lucky You are mostly great. It’s everything in between that’s disposable. Half of a great album basically.

Pretty much yeah, though I'm not fond of Matt's vocals on Available and Slipping Husband. Never dug Abel for the same reason

Harsh Matt gives me life.
Both in my top 10 Ntl tracks across the discog.

This is the biggest grower in their discog. Don't mistake this for a half-assed attempt at an album, rather a band still fleshing out their sound and experimenting. This and Cherry Tree paved the way for them, and while being maybe 75% as good as their best, they aged better than any album they put out afterward. Think when I first heard SS 10 years ago i gave it a 3... lol. I was so wrong.

harsh matt is the only time this band displays emotion overtly rather than subtly. available is a top 5 national track fight me

One of Matt's best to be sure, and that riff is so good. Still wouldn't even make my top 5 for this album most days.

Alright I've listened this enough times to think Trophy Wife is actually a fucking gem time to 5 this sum bitch

Damn I can’t get into that stretch at ALL (Trophy wife, sugar wife, patterns of fairytales, fashion coat).

Admittedly, Trophy Wife sounds MUCH better with headphones. The first 20 seconds of Sugar Wife is pretty cringey, but the rest of the song finds a host of good melodies to anchor it, pretty underrated. Fashion Coat is beautiful and it resounds with me on so many levels. Love the piano seguing into that surfy riff for the chorus, really gives the song a unique vibe.

I'm not big on Sugar Wife but the four songs after it are all great. Excellent and underrated album.

Finally a sensible person. Tough to beat that front half, but it's closer than people here make it seem. The average for this is dumb low, but I get it in the sense that it isn't nearly as accessible as their later stuff, especially in the way of production.
