Swoon is pure condescension to me. Great album. This one maybe more “pretentious” but def also condescending. With Jordan, Paddy got more starry eyed and idealistic and dreamy—and yet I’m not sure he ever dropped that sense of talking down to someone…LFG

It’s hard to pinpoint, but he does a lot of songs where he’s addressing someone, and he never seems to think too well of them. There’s an odd kind of teacher-student vibe to me lol: “moving the river”

He seems to have a dry, quirky sense of humor and he’s self-deprecating too. I can’t recall off the top of my head but there’re some great lines in their ‘80s albums.
