are you talking about this style in particular or bm in general? honestly i've yet to hear this style performed better.

Verwustung and honestly the newest Panopticon are some of my favorites when it comes to "post-black metal" and I definitely think they are better than this. Have you heard the newest Srodek album Hyperion?

Eh I think that Alcest, An Autumn for Crippled Children, and Cold Body Radiation both do the whole post-rock mixed with black metal thing a bit better. This is still a great album though.
And then there's also Panopticon, like Spirit said, who fucking rule too.

i missed these guys when they played cleveland because i had no ride 
even though they do the black metal/post-rock thing that bands may have done better, they have a
definite screamo influence that attracts me

the only thing panopticon has released that i thought was as strong as this was his s/t but i really don't think the two are really after the same thing musically or idealogically so i wouldn't compare them. an autumn is pretty cool, and cold body radiation is better than an autumn but neither has released something as powerful as this imo.

Understandable. I definitely think the underlying screamo elements make this more appealing for you as well considering how much you like the genre. I love screamo too but in "post-black metal" i guess I would like to see a more successful fusion of shogeze and black metal rather then screamo and black metal.
