Love this as a whole, but Flugufrelsarinn is probably the weakest overall. But Ny Batteri, Hjartao Hamast, Olsen Olsen, oh my god yes.

Cool the only bad release from them is Von, but everything else is a worth while listen with the exception of Med.

Nice, I'll check this first

@Mongi Med is definitely their least consistent album - after Von - with some songs being quite unnecessary, but, when done well, it is still a very interesting and refreshing approach to their sound. Songs like Festival, Ara Batur, Sud i Eyrum and Illgresi are among their most beautiful pieces in my opinion.

^yeah especially coming down from the high that is Olsen Olsen. BTW have you guys checked Cocteau Twins - Treasure?

@Gentleman personally, I think title-track is perfect as a breathy, calm and more straightforward album closure. Avalon, though, is nothing more than average ambience.
@Friday, I've always meant to listen to Cocteau Twins, but for some reason I've never done it. I've heard a lot of people noting similarities between them and Sigur Ros, so I'll check Treasure out eventually.

Nevermind, my relatively limited 80s-appreciation capacity can't bear so many synths and so much programming. I get the idea though
|

@Onirium If that's the case then check Heaven or Las Vegas first, definitely got less of that signature 80's cheese

Thanks, Heaven or Las Vegas is pretty good so far, although I'm still not a fan of their overall production sound. Apart from a shared fondness for atmosphere and ambience, I'm not entirely sure what they have in common with Sigur Ros

Tbh me neither

Well for one they both have the nonsense lyrics, and they both have that dream-pop ambiance though in different ways obviously. I just brought it up since I've been digging Treasure. In my mind it is the Agaetis of the 80s. Cocteau definitely has that 80s production with sparse guitar and gated drums, whereas this album's instrumentation is like Radiohead with a symphony. Fraser's voice in Cocteau Twins is what really does it for me. Definitely Kate Bush inspired but with better technique.
Check the last song "Donimo." I thought that one sounded the most Sigur Ros at least in tone.
