Really? I think this album is just as good as Ash Borer's half of the split. Still think Fell Voices is better, though... everything they've released has been top notch, IMO.

I like both the stuff on both demos more than this (though, they reused a little bit of that material here). Still a great album, though. The intro to the last song is awesome.

Before this came out, the track they used from their 2010 demo was my favorite AB song... I was pretty disappointed by the re-recorded version. They rewrote my favorite passage in the song, lol

i just feel like these guys have a more powerful atmosphere than Fell Voices. granted, i haven't listened to the latter as much as i have to Ash Borer, so my opinions could change in time.

I agree with you, wyankeif, but I think Fell Voices has a far more particular command of time... I like drone music, and thus prefer the slightly thinner, monotonous sound that just hangs on for twenty minutes at a time. I also simply prefer the character of Fell Voices' atmosphere, but I'm not usually one to be overly concerned with 'powerful' music.

fell voices have cooler riffs and are more likely to write really memorable parts but i'd still choose to listen to ash borer over them 9 times out 10 because their atmosphere is so thick and their sound is so crushing.
