I'm no expert but Swordfishtrombones by Tom Waits is jazzy and is blues and is also excellent.

@altertide0 i'd 5 it again too

@Ars tom waits is interesting, will take a few listens to get into

I guess i'm looking for more traditional stuff. but i'm not sure what terminology i should be using.

Blues:
Albert King - Born Under a Bad Sign
B.B. King - Live at the Regal
John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers - A Hard Road
Fleetwood Mac - Then Play On/The Best of Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac

Jazz:
Charles Mingus - The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady
Sun Ra - Jazz in Silhouette
Thelonious Monk - Monk's Dream
John Coltrane - A Love Supreme

^Some fairly accessible introductions to classic blues and jazz.

None of them are similar to this though as this is more psych/blues rock. If you want some blues guitar playing more akin to this you might to want to check out the following:

Gary Moore - Still Got the Blues
Rory Gallagher - Rory Gallagher
Robin Trower - Bridge of Sighs
Free - Tons of Sobs
(note that these aren't psychedelic, just blues playing with a similar level of intensity)

How one of the greatest rock and roll albums of all time has only 810 I just can't comprehend. It's absolute blasphemy

I've heard it's because the original album (and all of its ratings) were accidentally deleted from the database, and so a lot of the ratings that should be there now were lost.
