Yeah, STD is not even in the top 7 soilwork albums

STD is a good album, no reason to skip it. Not their best, but then neither is this. They're about on par for me.
The only Soilwork I'd tell anyone to skip is STAGD, that's most certainly their worst. FNF I would just say save for last, a lot of people like it, a lot don't. I didn't care for it much but I barely remember it. But yeah every other Soilwork album is worth hearing imo.

NBC and FNF are my favorite Soilwork. The reason I skipped is because I'm checking albums from 2010 right now, but I will get to them at some point.
This one was... alright with some really good moments.

Oh my bad, misinterpreted your comment lol
But yeah NBC is one of their best for sure. I love that album. I didn't like FNF too much when I first heard it but I need to give it another chance. I keep meaning to listen to it again but I always forget, it's prolly been years since I've heard it. I'll get to it at some point though.

3.5 is a pretty high rating for an alright album

"Alright...with really good moments". I think that last part justifies the 3.5.
And yeah I've heard the new one. I liked it but I thought it was a step down from TRM/TLI. But my only real gripe with the album is that some of the choruses have a power metal-esque vibe, which reminded me of some bands I really don't like. I think I may have judged the album a bit harshly over those parts, especially since everything else was solid. Think I'm about to give it another spin actually.

maybe it's cause it was my first Soilwork album but this is one of my favorites

I really see this album as a return to putting actual care into writing music from this band. The FNF-STAGD era of the band contained some of the laziest and most radio-friendly stuff from them ever, this was definitely a nice change and led to two absolutely stellar albums
