Great review man, convinced me to get this. This is really good, especially 'Theme from Cheers' and 'To Old Friends and New'.

I think you're right about Jen Wasner, Kir. I'm pretty sure Cassie Ramone(Viv Girls) sings backup in the fray like Amy Klein their violinist, as well as the spoken word portion before "A Pot In Which To Piss," as opposed to what I first thought.

I figure if she is on the record in any significant way it has to be that. I don't know why they'd have Cassie guest as anything but a vocalist, cause lets be honest -- not that good of a guitar player, esp compared to anyone else on this record.

maybe I should just buy it fo reals and just check the liners. :

also Wye Oak is fucking sick

Is there anything more fist pumping then the ending of No Future Part 3 and the "you will always be a loser" chant? On another note, I finally found this on my secret not so secret download site, and I pretty much just blasted a load in my pants.

appppppaaaaarently:

craig finn (the hold steady) is the voice of walt whitman

cassie ramone (vivian girls) is jefferson davis

nolan strals (double dagger) is william lloyd garrison

jen wasner (wye oak) is the female singer in "to old friends and new"

and it doesnt really mention the members of ponytail so im gonna guess they just play their instruments loudly in the background

Well considering Craig Finn has Whitman - like word play abilities, thats no surprise.

This album is fantastic, it's like if Against Me! wrote longer songs and an angry Conor Oberst was doing lead vocals. Also, I love the guitar lead that comes in at 2:37 on Richard II.
