Second best Volta. Comatorium is amazing and Bedlam was okay.
The other two though...

The drags will probably go away soon, I hope.

Amputechture is beast if you give it the time it deserves
And Bedlam is the shit BUT IT IS TOO FUCKING LONG
|
| |
amputechture is certainly better than bedlam and octa and arguably better than ditc and if you disagree with me its because you aren't listening hard enough.

Amputechture just seems like such a rehash of all of their ideas to me. Not awful to listen to though.
Octahedron on the other hand is shit.

Amputechture isn't a rehash, it's all their elements times 100, which makes it hard to listen to sometimes
|

vox on amp are a career best for cedric imo.

I like Octahedron but understand why people don't. I reckon it's his best vocal performance since this album. The two previous he overdid it on effects and falsetto overdubs I think.

Day Of The Baphomets and Tetragrammaton kick all sorts of ass, but the rest never clicked. But goddamn, it's 3:30 in the AM and I'm re-listening to Amputechture now.
And yeah, Cedric's vocals on Octahedron were good, but the whole album was just..."Blaaaaaaah"
If that makes any sense.

Good man
I love Amputechture, it's their jazziest, their weirdest, and their most Spanish

how in the world is octa shit. it's got so much more direction behind it and it's so tight, but it still has this sort of off-the-hinges filter that only they can really apply to the music

Yeah, I don't mind/appreciate the restraint, particularly from Pridgen. The drumming on Bedlam is insane.
Similar idea to Kind of Blue by Miles Davis, in terms of chops and speed and stuff those guys really hold back from what they're capable of, keep it more simple in terms of the arrangements and focus on melody.
Having said that I prefer TMV's crazier stuff anyway.
