@Shortz:"(Though this is the first release I heard from them)"
Dude you have been DEPRIVED (Fear Factory was kinda my 'Staple' band in metal when I first started listening to Metal in general, so my opinion is kinda biased LOL)...hahaha Although this would be a good album to start with by them. After you've had your fill of this go and check out "Archetype"....ABSOLUTELY PERFECT from beginning to end.

At first i thought Final Exit was awesome but now it comes across as kind of cheese laden. Archetype is better imo but im probs one of the few that thinks that

haha there is no way Archetype beats this

I guess i'll have to listen to it a bit more. On another point, I never got why people rated Gene so highly when Herrera appears to have pretty much the exact same style, but with better groove ( just my opinion.). I'm not a drummer so it would be good if someone could explain that.

Amazing album, the best since Demanufacture IMO. Gene Hoglan is simply incredible (especially his double bass) and the clean singing is as good as the harsh vocals. I may do a review on this in a bit.

I can't get enough of his double bass...its just rediculous

Ray is still really good though.

Both drummers do pretty much the exact same thing tho, following the guitars chopping with the double bass. What i don't like with this album is that gene hits the snare heaps like those kind of death metal and thrash beats, without ever breaking into the half time feel or "groove" drumming or any other good variation... hard to explain since i dont know the terms when talking about drumming, again just my view and most will probably disagree. I much prefer Gene's work on SYL (self titled album).

I'm sure that Gene is mostly following the blueprint laid out by Burton and Dino - i.e. not making things too complicated or varied. It's kind of the FF thing. If you really want to hear what Gene is capable of you need to listen to the Individual Thought Patterns album by Death.
