She's a jar

With a heavy lid

My pop quiz kid

A sleepy kisser

A pretty war

With feelings hid

You know she begs me not to hit her

I'll try 'Darling' again but I always thought it was the weakest :/

I love Darling, ranks somewhere in the middle probably. It's got those Beach Boys harmonies though so that may be why you don't enjoy it as much.

Basically this has an insanely strong opening trio, then it drops a bit in quality for the next three tracks and everything after that is amazing again.

ELT is super generic honestly, it sounds like every alternative rock song ever... at least upon third listen

I just love how it's a massive burst of energy, its sequencing after Via Chicago is genius. It's one of the "simplest" songs here but it's effective. Definitely one of my favorite power pop songs.

It seems the most old fashioned, almost a retro pastiche type deal.

Plus, as Boney said, me and anything Beach Boys-y, things can get rough.

Yeah, 'ELT' is definitely near the rear

This whole album is sort of retro, but that's part of what I love about it. It takes the best parts of 60s pop a la Beatles and Beach Boys, combines it with a modern production and the occasional avant-garde detour and in the process betters its influencers.

I love retro stuff honestly

Also Summer Teeth sounds like a way cooler song upon third listen (as you may be able to tell I'm re-listening to the album right now)

The 1960s are probably my favorite decade in music, followed by the 1990s

So is the alternative version of "A Shot in the Arm" a hidden track or a bonus track? lol

That track and Candyfloss were originally hidden tracks but I treat them as bonus tracks because In a Future Age is clearly the spiritual closer of the album.

True, the whole album is quite retro. That vibe works incredibly well on 'Pieholden' in particular.

Anyway, I don't dislike 'Darling' - maybe I'm underrating.

I dreamed about killing you again last night, and it felt alright to me

Dying on the banks of Embarcadero skies, I sat and watched you bleed

Buried you alive in a fireworks display raining down on me

You cold, hot blood ran away from me to the sea
