I’ve jammed multiple RON albums and I’ve jammed them several times. One of my fav tech death bands tbh.

I was being flippant, of course you're free to like what you want. The suggestion that I just need to jam stuff more in order for my enjoyment to increase was rather presumptuous of Wretched.

lol that's the way it works for me with a LOT of stuff. I didn't like the last Black Dahlia and tried and tried again to no avail. I didn't like this Carnage album much a few years ago, and now it's one of my favorites. I find that some of the best shit takes a few listens

There’s ‘a few listens’ (which is standard practice for me) & then there’s banging your head against a brick wall to no avail, all depends I guess. I’ve returned to stuff years later & it’s finally clicked.

Yep same. That has happened to me multiple times.

Took me years to get into The Mantle.

Agalloch? It's one I have to try... hell I don't know anything about the band or album but I know of that album that is apparently the best thing ever. Same with Edge of Sanity's Crimson but I am hard on that one now.

I should really give that one Insomnium album some spins. It's easier to get into a more melodic album while I'm driving and not working

Yep Agalloch. Got into all their other stuff easily but The Mantle took forever.

Also since you mentioned Insomnium I hated them for the longest time and now years later they’re one of my fav bands ever. It just depends.

There's tons of albums/bands that didn't click with me right away. But if I don't like something after 2 or 3 listens, I just won't bother with it for another few months or a year. Never try to force an album to click with you, you'll end up hating it more (you might not do that Demon, but that 'brick wall' comment made it sound like you keep jamming it lol)

So much dm is just a 3.5 for me on first listen- more so than with any other genre, but sooooo many of them grow on me that I tend to revisit dm albums for a second spin way more often than other genres and more quickly.
