It's certainly off their first album. Windrider, Token of Time, Little Dreamer, and Abandoned are all amazing.

Also, listening to this again now. Fucking awesome. Best thing since the self-titled.

Lai Lai Hei and Into Battle are contenders from Iron, but I tend to agree that it would likely be from their S/T. My vote would go to Little Dreamer.

I would probably go with Abandoned. But all those I listed are really close for me. Those two from Iron are certainly great as well. Jari can write some fucking great melodies.

That he can, I know folk metal is cheesy and gay and all but I love this band. Pretty much every song from their S/T is brilliant.

Amen to that. I find Ensiferum to be more cheese-free than a lot of folk metal bands, though there are some Velveeta moments on this album. Still, it's a lot of fun to listen to.

eh i just went through a long space of time where i couldn't stop listening to the longest journey. i personally think that song is better than a lot of the songs from the s/t, but since the longest journey is their only song that good to me, their s/t is still their best album.

Yeah, this album was good and all but if I wanted to listen to norther Id put in a norther cd. Doesnt do Ensiferum a whole lot of justice.

Having said that, I do agree that the album grows on you over time. I guess I just miss that oldschool ensiferum flavor that their first two albums had. But its all jesus.

An excellent Folk Metal album that although at times seems to drag on for a bit too long, still manages to stay as epic as possible.

Great review. I agree that there are "growers" on this album. I also agree that you have to listen to the songs in sequence. It's like a rock opera on steroids.
