I havent heard much Pink Floyd other than Meddle, Animals and this, but this has to be my favorite so far. And i plan on getting WYWH pretty soon.

This album is amazing. Thing is, they got even better than this. What I don't quite understand is why this album pretty much alone (although WYWH is the same to a certain extent) is credited with being so original and groundbreaking. I though The Wall and Animals were at least as groundbreaking and original, if not more so.

Awesome review, and I agree with you mostly. My personal favorite is Wish You Were Here, but Dark Side gets 5 stars to the legend of it and the music is just fantasitc. I (and everyone in the world) can relate to the lyrics and themes of it. Its just that simple.

out of those ratings, the closest thing to pink floyd is the beatles, whose sound is slim to none like PF. basically, PF is really, really progressive and you either love them or find them mind numbingly boring.

why would i just download something? i have limited space on my computer (cos i have so much fucking music aha) and i dont want to fill it up with something I dont like >_> i have 90gb left of space. not that most of it is particularly safe cos it's on an external hard rive.
And thanks IAmInsect.

I saw an original mastering of this album selling used for $54.99 at my F.Y.E. Needless to say it was probaly worth it but had $9 dollars on me. Possibly considering getting it.

Not the greatest Floyd in the world, and highly overrated, but "Great Gig in the Sky" is one of the greatest moments in music ever. Soooooo great...

"US & THEM" is an allegory of profound mystical poetry.

Never heard this album before, but I am listening to it for the first time ever tonight on BBC's Masterpieces. Up to Money so far and I have to say I am amazed so far, I knew it would be good, but I had previously just dismissed it as overhyped, how foolish of me.

So, this album is either loved by many for its brilliance, or it is hated by people who think it's overrated and can't respect good music. Sounds like a good buy. :p
