"Is this good? I'm leaning towards no."

Yeah Demon buddy. Don't even come with final testaments about things. This is awesome stuff, along with Cult Leader's debut .!.

'grind rules agreed'

Not a fan (yet), I get some mild enjoyment from some grind(ish) sections within albums, but struggle to enjoy anything overly grind-orientated... the latest FoH is a good example, it certainly has moments but I don't really get it as a whole.

I'm really liking 'Cursed' and 'Trap Them' actually, although it feels like they both lean more towards heavily metallic-tinged hardcore, than grind... any ideas?

Those are crossover thrash-hc bands

My fave grind bands are Pig Destroyer, FoH and Aborted.

This is HC-Sludge...bit of post...

Well yeah hence ‘metallic-tinged hardcore’. I think Cursed has sludge elements too, thinking about it. It’s a finely balanced cocktail, get one ingredient wrong and Demon slaps a mediocre score on it.

Even pig destroyer leans closer to metalcore than grind imo. I don’t care for most grind personally.

neither...but that's the point of grind...not to be taken serious...those refereed bands are indeed cocktails, but grind infused all of them, that made me pass the 4 rate barrier.

edit: plus as far as I'm concerned, I'm lately finding really difficult to get the "grind thing" because its there on all genres...

Moth + Cult is growing on me, in fact I wish they'd cut out some of the dissonance at times and show me the riffs. I kind of like the post-metal(ish) bit in Hospital Fat Bags.

Mixed bag.

I'd say music-wise, this and best Cursed are on the same level.

Yeah I love Converge, it's essentially the only reason I'm here. There are definitely elements of Converge's sound contained within this, I'm just not sold on the entire thing... I do sometimes struggle with grind-like stuff though.

If I couldn't 'handle' this it'd be getting a lower score, 3/5 is respectable enough.
