Good review. Just a little note regarding the song I Will Remember: it's not a Gothic love or a vampire theme song, but a surveillance-theme song: the "knowing star" was in fact a spy satellite watching the two lovers. This was confirmed by the band in later interviews.

Awesome little bit of information. It brings the song more in line with the theme that runs through the album.

Huh, interesting. And that is hands down my favorite track off of this. I love the live acoustic version of it too

This alone, and especially this with Mindcrime, are enough for me to forgive them for the atrocity known as Dedicated to Chaos.

This alone is enough to excuse everything from anyone, to be honest.

I don't know if I'm willing to forgive Geoff for F.U. yet though.

You haven't heard Kings & Thieves then (I guess), hehehe.

(hint: it's bad)

I doubt I'll like it considering it was made by him just a year before FU, but it probably has a greater reason to exist, unlike FU.

It's the way

I roll

yeah yeah yeah

It's the way

The way I roll

^ lyrics from Kings & Thieves, just saying.

If that's actually representitive of the quality of all the lyrics, it could be as dumb as FU's. Don't you also want the old Geoff back too?

Yeah but he is the one that keeps looking to the future. The first piece of his upcoming trilogy should be released this year, if I'm correct.

You mean an Operation: Mindcrime (band) album?

Yep, I hope carrying such a name will keep him (them) focused. Looks like this year is going to be a round 2 for him and Ryche. So far, he is losing hard.

Geoff is currently polishing his baritone timbre & head as he prepares his TRILOGY. A Magnus Opus for sure... OMG THE HYPE! He will amaze us all!

Yes he is, which is a shame considering he used to be probably the greatest of the USPM (and later straight ahead prog metal) wailers, even being significantly better and especially more versatile than John Arch or Midnight. His voice is a shell of its former self, and his lyrics are regressing with age.

He may be a true baritone but that doesn't excuse such a significant loss of range.

Let's be positive, it looks like he is really into what he is doing. He can't write something worse than

We're Wi-Fi connected

And those elected

Must follow demands of what the masses say

And play the game by the rules of today

I hope.

HAVE FAITH! Excellent musicians surround him and his vocals mature like good wine... Check this! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hZ0M5kPKVHw

Are you serious?! That performance of "Best I Can" is vocally way worse than it was on Empire, and I'm referring to the lack of power shown. I'll consider myself lucky if Geoff's band can truly live up to their name.
