"The God that Failed" and "My Friend of Misery" are fucking awesome songs. Honestly, if they released an album full of moody, semi-depressing music in the vein of these two songs I'd be heaven.

This is a great album, probably tied with Master Of Puppets for favourite metallica album, i can just throw this album on and not skip a track.

"At one point I had the tab book for this album and could play all the songs, including solos. Not that that's saying much, but learning Metallica stuff was my introduction to playing guitar."

I always improv solos, so it would do me good to actually learn some of these note for note. Is this album tuned down half a step?

Every song on this album is actually in Standard E Tuning except for:
Sad But True; D Tuning (down a full step)
The God That Failed; Eb Tuning (down half a step)
For live shows they play all songs in Eb though so Jaymz's live vocal range fits. Hope that helps
(and I should be shot for spelling his name like that, I know)

Cheers for that, Really helpfull. Our band plays Enter Sandman (Who doesn't seriously...) in standard tuning, so thats cool.

My first band tried it in D once, seemed like a good idea during practice, but at the gig, well, I don't think anyone has ever had to dodge so many beer bottles while the sun was still up

haha we have NEVER played a metallica song at a gig, simply because we are terrified of metallica fans.

They were one of the last revolutionary metal bands In my opinion. Next to none of the modern metal does anything for me.
