closer on this is coherent as hell and more exciting than anything i've ever heard from converge
the rest makes sense in its stop/start intensity because the dynamics are on point and the performances are glorious. hmm

they most certainly have fast and good riffs and some slow ones too (lol!) but if they were more exciting, i'd be able to remember more than Drop Out and the YFM t/t off the top of my head hmm
due a rejam with AWLWLB in fairness

I’ve never disagreed with Johnny more, blimey. Jane Doe is like a wall-to-wall to adrenaline rush. Admittedly I have a rather deep emotional attachment to that album, but still. Opening half of No Heroes comes close (despite it not being their best overall). AtF is a great shout if you want adrenaline pumping energy too. Their early stuff has it in abundance also.

Very few bands even come close to matching the intense vigour ‘verge can conjure up. The difference between them and most is that their songs actually stick, resonate, grow. Most ‘grind’ like song lengths just fall flat by the time you’ve finished the album. Hollow, forgettable, dare I say throwaway. Okay I’m stereotyping here, but yeah that’s how I feel.

Gotta disagree there, Ryus. You Fail Me is one of the most emotionally intense albums I've ever listened to

Pageninetynine at their best does it better than Orchid or Verge tbh

Doc. 8'd be my pick for tip top screamo record

City of Caterpillar and this are way up there too, though

I thought the same as Colton tbh (hey it’s Demon’s confessional) but err yeah that ‘Vi Som Alaskade’ band pull off some of the most emotional music I’ve ever heard and I can’t even understand the lyrics (maybe a good thing idk).

Maybe I just need a touch of tender delicateness to go with my screamo rawness?
