i dont know what makes this sound ok then, not an expert on it but taking Rush as an example something like Counterparts was compressed quite a bit too but sounds great to me whereas some other thing like Snakes & Arrows sounds flat as fuk.

counterparts actually wasnt that compressed at all compared to the newer rush releases, it was loud and beefy as fuck but there was no clipping, test for echo was even louder but it wasnt until vapor trails where the shit really hit the fan

i think even though its very loud clockwork angels is an improvement over snakes but i hope they release audiophile version or whatever, apparently they released HDtracks versions but they were just as loud, weird

CA sounds metallic to me too, like if i spin that cd then play moving pics after the difference is vast, mp sounds much more natural, dunno if thats alex using more digi fx these days compared to natural valve sounds in the old days or just the production
