i kind of have to agree with JAV. Usually I cant finish Cygnus because of 4 minutes of space at the end.
It isn't so much the last few minutes of space that bring it down. There is actually nothing that does except that high pitched noise that sounds like Halle Berry having an orgasm. It's fucking high in the mix, especially when blasting this through the speakers.

Deloused hit me around at listen 3. When i heard Bedlam, (which was the first TMV i've ever heard) I interpreted that as complete chaos with no direction. And i am yet to hear Amputechture

I dont exactly think that the last few minutes actually bring it down, In fact i love the whole song. Its just that when it hits around 9 minutes it seems to drag, and doesnt do much for me. And the "Oooh Yeah"'s that i beleive you are refering to kind of leaves you in confusion weather Cedric is a girl or boys name. But i dont think it brings the song down.

Didn't enjoy this as much as Deloused, but it is still a very good album. 'The Widow' and 'Cygnus...Vismund Cygnus' are great tracks, and 'Miranda, That Ghost Just Isn't Holy Anymore' is a great title. It's pillaged from the Smiths' 'William, that Joke just isn't Funny Anymore' I think. This Message Edited On 08.18.08

Isn't it obvious that the "random atmosperic noise" is there to give us time for bong hits in between the insane songs?

Album is genius. The strings before the last chorus of Cassandra, the huge build-up in Cygnus (my fav. Tmv track), just brilliant. Every Volta album has those small spurts of climactical genius, that no other band could pull off. With that said, the random noises at the end of the Widow just suck.

Selling your testicles seems a bit overboard considering a ticket would probably run you 20-30 dollars...but by all means...and I listened to this today for the first time in a while and remembered why I loved it so much!!

good point. i'll rephrase. i'd sell my testicles if mars volta would play a mile away from where i live (or anywhere close for that matter) and they did it on a wednesday (my only night off work)

depends what kinda show you like because there's little to no interaction with the crowd, extensions of most of the songs (for Goliath it went like 15 mins longer), lots of reefer being smoked (only a negative if you don't have any and no ones willing to share (like what happened with me)), and they don't play Drunkship of Lanterns even though it was clearly on the setlist

However, they are very gripping and Cedric's antics makes it well worth the price of admission...as well as thomas pridgen's awesomness

Haha, understandable. They played near me not to long ago but it was after all my friends who like them went back to school...boo!
