Agreed, pretty much everyone I used to talk to is gone, and definitely the kind of albums that get a lot of coverage here changes with the tastes of whoever's on staff at the time. You're totally on point about the level of musical discourse, there's a lot of "this rules" or "this is so good" but not much digging into the intricacies of the composition/performance/production. I don't know of any website that offers that in the way that this place used to. I've often wanted to start contributing more and reviewing more to talk about albums more from that angle but honestly its unrealistic to find the time.
