It sure does. I love the opener the most, though.

my goodness the subtle parts of Memento Mori remind me of The Ministry Of Lost Souls

Never listened to Systematic Chaos, but Memento Mori is one hell of an epic track and it came before the DT album.

yes it did (I'm new to these guys)
If Empire, A Pleasant Shade Of Gray, and Train Of Thought were all mashed together, this would be the outcome.....thats what I'm hearing

Thomas Youngblood, the guitarist, is a big Queensryche fan, so I guess it makes sense.

Geoff Tate in the vocals too, hard
not sure how I've missed these guys throughout the years

Not the most popular band. And maybe the power metal tag made you dismiss them?

I like power metal!
But this is so much more progressive metal to me than power metal. I'm assuming their older material has more 'power' and speed?

Yes, it does. You can hear the prog traces from Siege Perilous already, but that album does not pull them off all too well. If you like this so much, I suggest checking The Fourth Legacy, Karma and Epica.

Yeah it's more symphonic and theatrical. Not so much needless repetitive speed like lots of power bands overdo.

I've been mixing Epica in with this one, figured they were the right place to start. Once I digest them (about half way there i'd say), I'll move on to the other two you mentioned.

Those are the two best imo

They are, but the other two are definitely worth a shot as well.

what about their past few albums? any good?
|

Album Rating: 5.0
By my standards they would be. The only ones not really deserving to be checked are the first two albums which are instrumentally fine, but brought down by their first vocalist, as you can hear in Sabrutin's link.

Yep. Kamelot start as a band from The Fourth Legacy. Even mastermind Tuomas Youngblood considers it to be their debut.
