Pretty Good album. Singer shines quite a bit a few times but never does anything amazing. Great songwriting for the genre. Poet and the Pendulum is a great song and is close to the top but not THE best. Definitely a good album
Just thought I'd fix that fix for ya'

lol LepreCon, I'm actually debating whether you've even heard Nightwish's older material as much as you've listened to this overproduced pop album. Tuomas composed like ONE good song on this album to prove he has it in him, before then filling it with pop-metal rubbish.
EDIT: To be honest, there's not just one song here - there's three songs I enjoy on this album. The Islander, Poet and the Pendulum and Last of the Wilds. Of an album of 13 songs, if you can only enjoy 3 of them, something is clearly wrong.

Complety agree, the ONLY really good song in this album is TPATP and the album definetly goes down hill from there. I'm a huge nightwish fan, and honestly, this album, with the exception of the poet (which blew me away) was a total disappointment. I do listen to it though, I sort of like it, but this is not the nightwish I fell in love with.

Despite Annette having more of that power pop vocal style, I think it fits well with Tuomas's shift in styles. Marco's epic beard never ceases to amaze me

Jeez how did I miss this gem? Well now lets see I've been listening to this band pretty much since they broke out internationally, I was there through the Tarja firing fiasco and was dubious about how this album would turn out but was delighted with the final result. The fact that you call this an "overproduced pop album" and saying it is filled with only "pop-metal" rubbish makes me debate just how much you even know about the fine line between what constitutes as 'pop' and what doesn't. Sorry brah you lucked out here I'm afraid

Never got into Nightwish that much. But for some reason I'm digging the bombast of 7 Days to the Wolves on this though.

Nice album, very dynamic and cleverly composed.
I was introduced to Nightwish after new lead singer came in so i have a different view than soe older fans i guess as i compared them the wrong way round.
I first saw live performances from this album and they were astounding! I since listen to this album alot but the standout tracks for me are
1. Poet and the Pendulum
2. Bye Bye Beautiful
3. Amaranth
4. Cadence of Her Last Breath
