Nice! They're at the top of my want-to-see-live-list for sure.

I saw them two years ago at the Graspop festival in Belgium. They played Anthems integral as well. Was a pretty neat atmosphere, at night on the mainstage for 50.000+ people. Stupid me I'm only now getting into Emperor and this album specifically. It seems I am so late to the party that I'd throw myself behind the train.

this>>>>In the Nightside Eclipse to me. both in terms of songwriting and production (which in the previous album was damn awful tbh)

it seems they played the whole album at Bloodstock Open Air last year. Fantastic.

I don't agree but it's still an absolutely fantastic record. Their whole discog is 4+ for me. Incredible band.

Nightside is GOAT bm but this isn’t far behind.

Nightside is fantastic, but the drumming here is beyond insane, and the pruction is clearer. Plus the keyboard parts are more complex. Maybe that's why I prefer this one

However Trym is currently playing with Emperor. And it seems he still kicks ass*s

bro you just can't handle that kvlt production on Nightside, it's cool. More atmosphere for the rest of us m/

It's suuuuperb, agreed.
Nightside is colder, more focussed, tighter, and it feels almost inevitable or like it had to be so; whereas this is a bit cleaner, incorporates a bit more fuss. That's why I prefer ITNE.
It's entirely up to taste I guess, both rule anyway.

It's atmospheric for sure, but at times it's almost impossible to hear what the guitars are playing, or the vocals are overwhelmed by the other instruments. "Inno a Satana", for example, is far more complex, in terms of guitar playing and composition, than what the album makes you believe, and I realized that only after watching their live shows and finding an accurate tab

Changing headphones helped and probably listening with top tier headphones to the whole stuff would make it even better, but still. However, don't get me wrong, ITNE's production is better than a lot of other BM albums of the same period (say Darkthrone lol)

Yeah, true, but I really like that because of these qualities you find something new each time. Btw, I wouldn't say you can't hear them at all, they're a bit hazy, yeah, but they're at least distinguishable. Maybe that's something that comes in time, when you know it better.

Well obviously I'll keep listening to it, since it rules, so maybe that's the case, and with time I'll get more used to it!

Yeah man!
Have you heard IX and Prometheus too? They're really different but soooooo good.

Yeah those are both amazing too. Neither get enough love because of how classic the first 2 are.

I still have to listen to them. I had listened to ITNE for the first time like two years ago, when I got the CD, and I had mixed feelings about it. I spinned it two days ago in mp3 format and loved it, then I decided to check Anthems and loved it even more. How much different are IX and Prometheus? And in what way?

Agreed. Such a pity, they contain so much greatness. One of metal's best discogs?

''How much different are IX and Prometheus? And in what way?''
They're way less BM, way more technical and a lot clearer. Superb guitar playing on both.
