It's just unrelenting beats, samples, scratching and socially relevant lyrics as well as an attack on the media by me man Chuck D.
It's a good place to start dude.

@zak never heard it, but it's hip hop so probably not

lol

I could probably dig well-made hip-hop,

Implying well-made hip-hop is the exception to the rule. Could it be that you don't like hip-hop because you're ignorant of it?

Honestly I've always found hip-hop at its core was a good idea, but so few make it sound good. If the lyrics are interesting I could probably dig

Lyrics aren't bad, but not good either. Musically, this is very good.

you can write any range of lyrics if its a concept album. for instance, taken out of context, the lyrics of selling england by the pound would be ridiculous

I can't get into hip-hop at all, apart from Death Grips, so you might be similar to me in that sense Oni. Give them a shot, especially The Money Store, even if Zak disagrees

most of gabriels lyrics were nonsense but in the best way, they were at least interesting and made you laugh, wilson only wishes he could write something like

easy love theres the safe way home, thankful for her fine, fair discount, tess cooperates

genius

My bad, I had the page loaded up when there hip hop was still relevant and yeah, slow internet.

I'd say that the lyrics aren't as bad as everyone makes them out to be and it fits the theme, but Steven Wilson's voice doesn't suit singing about that kinda stuff

See, this is the standard line that people use when they want to justify not liking a genre they know nothing about. It's not embarrassing, you don't have to make ignorant blanket statements. Do yourself a favour and go check out Illmatic man.

Gabriel proved how good a lyricist he is with The Lamb.

Wilson probably isn't the worst lyricist ever but I'm struggling to think of a worse one, at least in prog-related music (not saying
prog lyrics are the best).
