generically rawks yea

It's not really that genenric. Besides it doesn't matter seeing as it's better than most stoner rock albums of this style.

I listened to this for the first time, like, 5 months ago, and I thought it sounded generic as fuck.
I listened again yesterday, decided to give it another chance, and I'm convinced this isn't the same album.
idk, took some time to grow.

Curious, what makes this stoner rock, per se?
It's go the riffs and stuff, but those mellow psychedelic jams aren't on here.

Excellent album. It's very consistent and the guitar tone throughout is eccentric. What I personally think the highlights of the album though are in fact the longer songs such as 'The regulator' and 'Ghost', which are both structure beautifully and written brilliantly. That's not to say songs like 'The mob goes wild' or 'Profits of doom' don't justify the band's musical success however, because they certainly do. I just think that Clutch are in their element when they perform the slower, tenser songs. Still an awesome band whichever song they play though.
