Just heard these guys live at Copenhell this weekend, they played at 11 pm. Pretty intense show, I didn't really know a lot of their music, but I heard the name of a song and it was "The Heaviest Matter of the Universe". Pretty cool song, think I'll check them out some more!

Just got into these guys and i must say im impressed. For the longest time i couldnt get past Backbone because i kept repeating it cause of how intense that riff was. I also havent really heard a band that sounds this heavy and isnt rediculously annoying. It took more than a couple tries to get past that awesome riff in Backbone but when i finally got to the rest of the album i was very happy i did.
Don't really understand the references to Mastodon because they feel much more rock and proggy compared to this. The reviewer also seemed to be comparing this album way too much to 2 other bands when you should kind of judge the album on its own with a mix of your opinion.
The album itself is pretty cool as whole but i kind of agree with some that it might not warrant an enitire listen straight through. But it must be said that the songs that hit, hit fucking hard and is hard to stop listening to.
Favorites: Backbone, From The Sky, Unicorn, Where Dragons Dwell, Flying Whales, From Mars/To Sirius, and Global Warming.
No ones mentioned it but i think Unicorn was pretty peaceful and a nice little intermission. Also i think that the transfer from From Mars to To Sirius couldve used just a hint of a better bridge to connect them. it seemed just a little too sudden for me.

Awful review. FMTS is in a handful of albums I'd consider being "classic". This album pretty much crushes almost anything I've heard in my lifetime, (except maybe Blackwater Park and Reign In Blood), and I've been listening to this music for over 30 years.
Great song writing, lead heavy, fast where it needs to be and not so much where it doesn't.
Awful review, deserves repeating.

Totally disagree with the review as well, and I think the pacing's about right for the length. This doesn't drag on as it's not a 'one tempo wonder' with identical sounding tracks consecutively. Album is a journey. Heaviest matter and flying whales riff my bulls off

Have to agree with those commenting that this review is flawed. I think the reviewer went into the process determined not to enjoy the music, and consequently didn't. Being fans of Mastodon and Cave In I would have to say I really didn't even think that Gojira sound like either of them (now or then).
I would lean towards Neurosis, if any band. Who cares who they sound like anyway. How about judging the band on the merits of the album, not preconceived attitudes and prejudices. Critically this album has been rated highly on nearly every site I have ever looked at, and the user rating of 4 suggests that the review of this album is a 2 at best.

Unoriginal~?~?~? Are you an idiot?
Gojira is unoriginal. That is just plain stupid.
Name one band that sounds like this!
A 2 is complete failure to appreciate the art in Gojira.
