Idk, I just feel that Marrow although its a great album tried too much to be black metal and sacrificed their folk influences. Maybe I just need to listen to it more.

I'd honestly like to see them revisit some Sol Invictus-style stuff they did on the White EP.

I don't think they tried to be too much black metal. I think they just wanted to try something different. I'd rather they stick with this style, but you can't do the same thing every time.

Its hard to make an album with black/folk metal styling of Agalloch without repeating yourself. I
honestly dont know what else they can do that they havent already done unless they brought in a new
influence.

This album is basically balanced between black metal and folk, The Mantle was more folk orientated,
Ashes was Post-metal and Marrow black metal, gonna be interesting to see whats next.

I think if they made another folk album now, it would easily be better than The Mantle if they didn't fuck up the production.

I'm sure the next album will be more folk oriented. Maybe they'll find a new idea to come up with though. It's hard to tell.

Well we've probably got about 4 years to wait lol. These guys take their time with albums.

It's gonna be OSDM with folk-tinged acoustic guitar and piano passages.

That's because they have careers that they put ahead of their music. And they don't all live in the same place.

It would be hilarious if they actually made an OSDM album. It would be even more hilarious if it was actually good.

He used to be in Sculptured. They have some death metal influences, but they're more proggy and definitely not OSDM. It's actually Don Anderson's (Agalloch's guitarist) band. I think John only played drums on one album.

I need to listen more Ulver. I know that Garm is amazing, but Ulver has been kinda distant for me.

Well you definitely need to listen to Bergtatt and Nattens Madrigal, even though they're both completely different from each other.
