Only thing that bothers me about its look is that the sides of fretboard and the nut are white for some reason.

I like the finish but PRS prices scare me.

"It really is a great guitar imo from a sound/playing perspective as well."
And very affordable for the quality. $800 dollars for basically the exact same guitar that he uses live. The only thing I think he swaps out is the nut.

The price point really is impressive yeah. I think the SE model even comes with the same custom shop Duncans which is insane if true

Can confirm it does come with those alpha/omega pickups. They articulate big chords really well no matter how much gain you’re using. You can also switch the pickups to single coil so there’s really 6 pickup configurations you can use instead of three.
The longer scale also lets you downtune the guitar a shit ton without using crazy heavy strings and still get distinct sounds from each fret which is cool too.

I'll always respect this band for their seemingly infinite number of endorsements
The guitarists alone each have their own signature guitars from 3 separate brands and their own signature pups from 3 separate brands lol. Amps and effects is another long ass list too

they have their shit figured out. on both the musical and business fronts.

On a related note, Rick Beato recently did a video about how string gauge affects tone and it's actually kind of shockingly stark. Heavier gauge strings have way more unnecessary low end than lighter strings, so using regular 9s on a longer scale turns out to be the best way to go tonally for high gain / low tuned clarity.

Didn't SRV use 13s?
Speaking of strings, I think the last time I changed them on my main axe was 3 years ago
|

Lmao so like five years ago I bought the cheapest 7-string I could find at guitar center, a set of "heavy gauge" 7-string strings, and the heaviest gauge single string they could sell me (think it was like 75(?). I strung the 75 as the B-string, and then tuned every string in the 7-string set as the next string up (so like the B in that set became the E, the E became the A etc)... all so I can tune the guitar like an 8-string (minus the high e) and play DE/KNY Deftones songs. I did learn all of KNY but after that I lost interest in guitar for a while and stopped playing it.
Those strings are still on the guitar today. It's nearly unplayable in standard 7-string tuning because of the extreme tension it puts on all the strings, but also sounds like crap if you tune it down (not that it ever sounded particularly good) due to I guess how long the strings have been on there. I'm also fairly certain I've badly damaged the nut of the guitar doing this because low strings fall badly out of tune after like five minutes of playing it.
