Both are a 4/5 imo. But neither are even close to being among my favorite Opeth records

Heritage-PC-Sorceress-ICV revisit session: Listening to this again now. My issues still are those that are well documented by now, mostly relating to drum sound and general production issues (hollow, a bit overblown, crushed, especially during the heavy sections). Additionally, I really can't stand those voice over bits (they're very short of course, but still irritate me a lot).
The actual tracks aren't at all that different from the PC approach. Some are very enjoyable. Will O The Wisp is a beaut.

Title track, will o the wisp and Era are the standouts. Garden of the titans version of Era and Sorceress are just so much better then studio versions

Agreed. The production sucks the life out of moments that would otherwise be kind of cool. Don't like the Persephones. Don't particularly care for both of the t/ts, Chrysalis, and Era (Titans version of that one is cool though).
Seventh Sojourn is very nice, another high (next to Wisp). Portions of Strange Brew and A Fleeting Glance (first few minutes are fantastic!) are cool too.
This definitely is their low point still, yet it isn't below a 3.0.

'so you're telling my it's on par with Damnation'
Absolutely no way, in fact you'd have to add mine and Trif's ratings together before we get to Damnation. Beautiful album.

Johnny being !!!!!!!!!, as per usual sometimes often occasionally every now and then.
Forgot how super cool Fleeting Glance is. Such a pity that it is muffled by that incredibly weird choice of production. Another highlight despite this.

I think A Fleeting Glance is one of the tracks that suffer the least from the ass production. Such a tune

Fleeting Glance tries so hard to be good but it never really works.

Will o the Wisp, Sorceress 2, and A Fleeting Glance are my top 3. Agreed that the Garden of the Titans versions of the t/t, The Wilde Flowers, and Era are improvements.

Wisp is great, but too reminiscent of Jethro Tull. Chrysalis I like more.

Yeah it Tulls like a trooper but it’s still a belter.

In fact, the only one I don't particularly care for is Sorceress. (Persephone doesn't count either.)
Edit: oooooops, wrong thread.

I give this record a lot of stick but I still absolutely LOVE a Fleeting Glance.
It's inspired me to give this record another go tbh.

This one is an absolute blinder
