there are better bands now, Opeth cant metal anymore apparently, take Countless Skies - Glow for example. That album is better than anything Opeth has done in 15 years.

Timeless or not, doesn't really matter to me, like it that way, "very passé" , feels like time travel.

Ok, so here's what I'm trying to figure out. What's with the branding of this as the "buttprog" Opeth album? In fact, there was someone else on another site I review on, who said Mikael was channeling his inner Scott Stapp on this one. Am I fucking missing something? And I'm not trying to be condescending to people who say that, I'm just curious because this still sounds like a typical Opeth album (albeit one of their better ones)

I guess I'm just confused, because I don't know what apparently changed between Deliverance/Damnation and this

cookie cutter heaviness is way up on this, even compared to deliverance
idk about buttprog, shit is just largely underwhelming outside of the opening pair, mindlessly repetitive at points even by Opeth's standards and a huge drag to get through in one sitting
but you could say that for half their albums so

@park That's actually me, because I'm genuinely curious. It's not just wutang4ever either, because I know Pikazilla's constantly pushed the same narrative on this thread
