Completely missed this all my life until I got recommended it a couple of weeks ago...
This is a gem. Might be a five but I’ve only listened to it five or six times so don’t know the staying power yet.

Mayonaise is arguably Pumpkins’ best song, but there’s some stiff fucking competition. Soma, Cherub Rock, Bodies, XYU, Tonight Tonight, Porcelina, Thru the Eyes of Ruby, Muzzle — they have so many great songs.

It’s about as 5 as an album can possibly be. The 5’iest of 5s.

Apparently this is only .03 away from rounding up to a 4.5 avg. LET'S GO LADIES AND GENTS

Woah there
Also Mayonaise is a 5/5 track and putting it next to slurry like XYU and Muzzle or cornballs like Tonight and Bodies is slander to its good name and a FAKE COMMENTSad!

Bad comment Johnny
Muzzle and Tonight Tonight both rule
Mayonaise is amazing too, but yeah

I still like Geek USA the most though
And the full version of Drown is probably 2nd

in fairness Tonight would probably be a great song if it didn't have one of the most tuneless rock vocal performances of the 90s. Corg wrote that one in a way that meant he had to carry it and phwoar boi was that a rookie error

Best song is soma

I'm just gonna say it: I love Corgan's voice in the 90s
It's nasal, weird, ugly, out there, but it's also so unique and genuine sounding and he's not off-key or anythnig

'Best song is Soma'
Agreed. The 3 track run of Soma-Geek USA-Mayo is pretty unbeatable.

I love that part at the climax of Soma when Billy and James go all-out with the guitar harmonies. That’s some Queen II shit right there

Muzzle kicks ass, bridge is easily one of the best in their discog
tho I will agree with Johnny that the vocal take on Tonight is a contender for one of the worst oat

I can get behind that take. I've only noticed recently how bad it is. Still love the song though, that arrangement is stellar.

As said I’m completely new to this album but I don’t mind the vocals at all. Corgan feels like a cross between Dave Mustaine, Isaac Brock and Gerard Way and whilst I can see why that turns off some people it works for the music imo
