Indeed, it is.

Just make sure the garbage bins are out. And don't tell her I said that. Because if I did, my mom would find out and make me kill myself.

Demon your entire post implies that if you dont like something that's highly rated somewhere that you must be ignorant of whatever genre it is which is.... very silly

For the record I wouldn’t swan into an indie folk thread and call the release in question overrated. I might offer some thoughts on why I didn’t like it, but I can’t pretend to know anything about the genre.
Indie folk can go fuck itself, in all fairness. As can country.

It is samey
"And I don't mean that in any elitist, snobbery kind of way." Yes you did.
No I didn't (and I realise we're going back a few pages on this little ditty - but something has set mr DDDeftones off and I don't know why he's got a pair of nickers twisted.
--Beyhond sounding samey with not much songwriting dynamics, except in intensity, heaviness here is clearly relying mostly on drumms (which are brilliant btw)...overall I found it a bit too slow without being exactly doomy...and a bit riffless...I hope I'll let this thoughts sink with further listens.--
Again, I'm not wanting to sound dickish - only to contribute to the discussion here - but the album's dynamics are a niche within themselves. Ulcerate have made their brand in taking a scant number of ideas and running them eight ways til Sunday, adding variants to those same ideas in a forward thinking density. Ulcerate is more about the force of these singular ideas rather than a need to explore every avenue available then and there. I guess in that sense there's not so much in the way of immediacy.

I agree with much of that, and that explains much of what I was feeling upon first listen.
Great album...went to bed with some tune in my head. Its about time to embrace the vibe instead of expect things, like Demon said...

@Pots: that wasn’t my intention, if that’s the case then of course you’re well within your right to claim something is overrated, but we both know the word is overused (overrated?) by naysayers across Sputnik (presumably elsewhere too). Maybe it’s association, but I rarely see any comments dissecting the music and stating the where’s and why’s when coupled with ‘overrated’. Often it seems as though ‘not my thing’ is more appropriate, that’s my issue. Case-by-case basis in reality I guess.

Its always cool to read engaging discussions about music. Even more with extreme music pushing boundaries.

Nu zild strikes again!
Drummer out here proving what wonders can occur when a dm drummer backs off the snare a bit and tries some different patterns. So much more space to breathe.
Wish the bass was more prominent/wild, but not a huge minus really

Currently listening. Death metal isn't my forte whatsoever but I can appreciate good riffs, and this fucking riffs.
