the production is a big step down from PC but it's really not as egregiously bad as their middle era

Big LOL, but I fell out of love with Haken so hard that I can totally see this. I don't want to revisit Haken, because I'm afraid I might actually agree

the cool thing about 10s opeth is that even if you dont like it its still nowhere near as generic as 90% of modern prog

Heritage is top 5 Opeth lads, easily.

Hmmm let's see... Morningrise, Damnation, BWP, Deliverance, Ghost Reveries... nope

Even this, the band’s weakest album, is better than plenty of modern prog including all Hakens, except for maybe The Mountain.

Nah, The Mountain isn't even Haken's best

I listened to the entire Haken discography at the request of a coworker and it was a major slog until Affinity, which I thought was alright. Probably won’t jam Virus

Completely agreed, and I never understood why people go crazy for that one in particular.

For me, it's all about Aquarius and Virus

But Johnny, we actually think it is still 'good' (=3.0). Regardless of the other prog albums thing. Easily the band's worst, but still good.
