Well yes, the entire half of this is 10/10 but I just meant in terms of rhythms

But yeah I mean this record has better highs and more cohesiveness as an overall piece. Might be able to make the case that TBK has better individual tracks, but not personally for me

Whatever the case is between this and TBK, surely we can all soundly agree- with nary a dissenting voice to be heard- that The Glowing Man is a very large degree worse than the other reunion records.
New single is sweet

‘Worse’ only in the strict definition that it is indeed ‘not as good as’ either The Seer or To Be Kind, but it’s still a goddamn great record.

I like the more bluesy elements in TBK a lot

I *do* think TBK has the better individual songs (see: Oxygen, She Loves Us, Just a Little Boy, Screen Shot) but I think the absolute knockout that is Lunacy / Mother of the World / The Wolf / The Seer / The Seer Returns AND A Piece of the Sky / The Apostate is what propels this over TBK for me.

Maybe I just like The Seer because it's catchier (for a drone album) and has some creepier end of world vibes that I really dig. But yeah I'm no expert in the genre I'd concede that to Fripp. Might have to give TBK a revisit before my decade list is finalized.

I like The Seer better, makes me feel like shit and I love it. The atmosphere is better here than in TBK I think. The later is probably better musically though.

Call me basic but Song for a Warrior is one of their best songs for me. Also totally unlike anything else they've done.

Gotta agree with Fripp - the opening stretch up to the seer returns is amazing. The next three songs are all great in their own way. And the final 3 always blow me out of the water - A piece of the sky is such a beautiful piece of music

mother of the world is a truly eerie song, probably in my top 5 fav swans tracks. that evil sounding humming at the beginning is enough to conjure hell on earth

Nah Song for a Warrior is amazing, not basic at all lol

a no doubt beautiful vocal track that works as needed break in the chaos yet still furthers the bleak end of days allegory scattered throughout the lp

This album holds a special place in my heart because the first time I listened to it I fell asleep listening to the title track ( it was like 2 in the morning but bring on the jokes), and then woke up to the droning voices in 93 Ave B blues and it actually petrified me. Thank u swans for striking fear into my heart with the power of music
