However, if it was Something Else by The Kinks, that lister would have a bit of potential in him yet!

Fuck it. Upping this to a 5.
Still very very slightly prefer Mellon Collie but this is close.

MC's the better representation of the band in all or at least most of their forms, but this is the technically better album
Kinda hard to commit to a full listen of MCIS but I still usually crown it as my fav

It’s just so fucking epic and expansive. But of course this one is much more consistent.
You know, listening to these albums growing up (I was 13/14/15 at the time that came out), MC was always my favorite. But re-listening lately? That’s not so definitive.
One of my favorite Pumpkins songs as a young’un was Bullet with Butterfly Wings. Could not get enough man.

Mellon Collie will always be my fave but ye this is obv more consistent by definition, even if they should've put Starla in here instead of Sivlerfuck and maybe Obscured instead of one of the last two

Neither of those would have worked in the context of the album, this is the one record Bill & co should just be left with a pat on the back and a "damn, good job cousin" and on our merry way
Zeitgeist however, can be pulled apart w/ the force of 7 suns. He successfully omitted literally every best track of that era from that album

Agreed, EXCEPT for Neverlost
Plus I think Starla would've worked just fine, I could never get into Silverfuck very much

starla is probably the only song that's ever made me weep. MONUMENTAL latter half

Don't get me wrong I fucking love Starla, I just think that record in particular is one that, even if not every track is everyone's absolute FAV (when is that ever the case anyway?) every track placed on there is the track that needs to be there, Silverfuck & Sweet Sweet included

tbh Gish is also a perfect record
not quite as "soul-baring" as the next 3 but I love it all the same

I think Zeitgeist gets a bad wrap. It’s definitely disappointing compared to his best albums. But it’s not bad. A 3 for me. Really like Doomsday Clock, 7 Shades of Black and Bleeding the Orchid. But tracks like Pomp & Circumstances, For God and Country etc are straight up horrible. First half is really good, but second half mostly sucks. It’s certainly better than Monuments, which is by far my least favorite SP album. Doesn’t even FEEL like a Pumpkins album. I fucking love love love Tiberius though. Shit goes hard.
Oceania was awesome. Felt like a classic Pumpkins album. I saw them in concert on that tour and it was a fantastic performance.

Nah I really like Zeitgeist but I much prefer Mouments
Tiberius, Being Beige, One and All, Anti Hero are all excellent Pumpkins tunes. Only really Neverlost gets there on Zeitgeist
