My remastered CD arrived and I christened it by playing it extremely loud and dancing very badly but enthusiastically. This album keeps growing on me.

think I might be the only one on here who thinks the first half of Phantoms is better than the 2nd half

The first half is a structural mindfuck in terms of what everyone's playing around 4/4. I probably confabulated this but I swear I had read somewhere that instrumentals for Phantoms were recorded separately and mashed together in the DAW and is also a song they can't play live.

first half of phantoms is kinda the rhythmic concept of meshug pushed to an extreme limit, yogev gabay has a real interesting video on it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WN4Uo9NUG_I&t=11s

and yeah i think tomas said they dont play it live cause its too easy to fuck up

Even after watching the analysis of that video and following the notation as the song plays, you still can’t always “feel” it like it’s displayed because of how they change the notes and tones played. It’s a literal mind fuck but in a great way. So crazy

What do you guys think of the instrumental They Move Below? It's a very good song in its own right, but I still kind of miss the vocals.

It was my favorite song on the album after 1 or 2 listens.....still a candidate for the top spot along with Ligature

I will say, I don't love Broken Cog as much as most of you but it's obviously a killer tune and an amazing opener for the live show. I don't want to say I get 'bored' with it but there are a handful on this album alone that I enjoy more.

I've come to realise that, it's his sweet little holiday.

Also the groove is undeniably fantastic.

As much as I love Jens I actually wish they would release their whole catalog instrumental so I could pick it apart even more than I do ha
