Lol that anyone is dumb enough to try to argue who is in the wrong over Euronymous’ murder. It’s like it isn’t clear to some of you that most of those guys were deeply fucked up and often awful people. It’s an interesting story but there’s no right and wrong to it, just a lot of wrong that resulted in an enduring, incredible, and mystifying music genre.

The movie was pretty fun to watch if you’re into black metal but it’s not a story meant for film. The people in it are too real and too fucked up to every be portrayed with any accuracy so they always come off as fiction or unbelievable.

Yeah, didn't like it at first either. But Cradle of course paved the way, and when I heard I Am The Black Wizards for the first time, I was hooked. Can't deny that catchy coldness, perfect perfect perfect riff, superb vocals and atmosphere... Man. Brings a tear to the eye, doesn't it.

Cradle paved the way for me too but it was hard getting into the Norwegian stuff. Which is crazy to think about now because there’s so much stuff that’s way more under produced out there lol.

I had a weird entry to black metal because it was technically through burzum when i read an interview around the time belus released and then listened to a song off it but then I tried some stuff from wolves in the throne room and some others that prepped me for the second wave stuff. Mayhem and darkthrone were very offputting to me at first.

Yep agreed. Cradle, Dimmu and Borknagar were the 3 main bands that eased me into the genre.

Oh yeah dimmu would definitely be the first band I listened to besides Cradle of Filth’s “Her Ghost in the Fog”, but it was just their in sorte diaboli (underrated album btw) period because Im a young fella. Those guys I just kinda wrote off at the time before starting to get interested some years later.

Haha! They're quite neglected here overall, right? Not that many people into them or something. CoF and Dimmu used to be equally popular back in the day.

Mine? No. SBD is, the older ones were never really my thing, a bit too bm-y for my young and innocent tastes, although I did enjoy them.
