"He stated, “It's the culmination of every previous Swans album as well as any other music I've ever made, been involved in, or imagined."
so, I guess this album is a good start for diving into Swans?

Definitely not. Go for Children of God. Swans' post 2000 revival albums are a completely different band.

Ah, that's a good info. And if I divide them in 2 bands (pre hiatus and post hiatus) what would be the best entrance in post hiatus?

"what would be the best entrance in post hiatus?"
This is the only good one, so, this.

Disregard that
Why in the world would you recommend any of the fuck huge albums that's just moronic

My Father Will Guide Me is a good start for people who don’t want to commit to thirty minute songs just yet

Just listen to this one.

To Be Kind is both better and more approachable imo

Eh, kind of disagree, but I have trouble getting into TBK so who knows. TBK is more quirky if you're into that I guess. This is far more repetitive and in that sense feels simpler to digest than the more complex compositions of TBK.

To Be Kind is ever so slightly better than this.

Then I guess I start with To Be Kind for post hiatus Swans, since I hate reptition and love complex composition?

Children of God is best Swans, agreed.

okay "To Be Kind" and "The Seer" - while having some interesting sounds - are way to slow and kinda bore me. "My Father..." started out pretty cool but then lost itself. I also couldn't stand the monotonous vocals. Gonna try pre-hiatus otherwise this band just isn't for me

None of their post-hiatus stuff is even top 5

I dont think children of god is the best swans, though it is amazing. I just think that it is by far the best entry point.

'Soundtracks for the Blind' might have the variety you're looking for, Eclipse.
|
| |
It's also too slow for him, probably. Ghandhi is right about Children of God.

yeah I think this band just isn't up my alley, but Children was interesting. Maybe I will give that another try at some point. But thank y'all for the suggestions! At least I now know where the comparisons to the latest Daughters record are coming from
