"it makes sense dude. it's not like you intentionally set yourself up for it, but when there's a lot of hype surrounding something, expectations just naturally become high."

meh

at what point does one decide to not listen to hype because it's shit and unreliable as a predictor of quality

also, in this case it seems like it is indicator of quality, or rather of how the majority feels.

well there is something wrong with getting excited for shit if it results in your expectations being set unreasonably high.

there are too many variables in even deciding whether it's justified or not. like, if you and i have a lot in common musically, as well as a few other people, and you're all hyping something, it stands to reason that i should be excited about it based on how often we all agree. plus anybody that reads reviews (so, pretty much everyone on this site) are subject to hype. i mean just read this review and that's apparent.

i think you think you're above hype which is something we all fall victim to and there are too many things to consider with hype

Yeah denying that hype is a real thing is stupid lol. You can claim you're above it, and maybe you are for Kendrick, but other people are bound to be swept up. I was but I still loved this album.

Such a fun, non-cringey song. I know most people like it, but of people that complain about this album that seems to be one of the main ones. Don't really understand it too much, but whatever.

King Kunta's so good… I guess some people don't want the funk.

Also, Momma's quickly becoming one of my favorites on here.
