Lol Death and Gorguts were the two bands that really got me into death metal
Was loving Death and found Erosion of Sanity and From Wisdom to Hate on CD at the local record shop, decided to buy cause I heard they were awesome and I was forever changed

They're my top 2 dm bands of all time. So many greats, but they stand out over all the others.

i wouldn't say gorguts are the best starting point for dm if you wanna get a representative album for the genre but they can be easier to appreciate than some other 'classic' dm bands due to the fairly clear delivery

Oh I forgot to mention the venue they are playing at is the size of probably like 4-5 normal sized bedrooms, so will be some next level shit
|
| |
Honestly, Gorguts was a great start for me because I had a pre-conceived notion of death metal being generally repetitive and boring. I wasn't aware of how much really good, forward-thinking death metal there was.

Riff on ocean of wisdom almost as brutal as from wisdom to hate

Bold claim bro, but wouldn't argue with it.

I mean is there anything more brutal than wisdom to hate

Gorguts are a horrible starting point for someone not accustomed to death metal, Death on the otherhand is one of the best

Gorguts was my starting point

Ending of Forgotten Arrows live was just crushing with the massive bass drum presence.

Obituary and Pestilence for me.
Death just wasn't as cool.
|
| |
Consuming Impulse is also one of the records that got DM to click for me.
|
| |
I'm just now getting into Pestilence but man the first four albums rule. The new shit kinda sucks though
