This, Sempiternal and That's the Spirit are all solid 4/5's for me. They're somewhat of an album trilogy for me; when the band seemed to start actually giving a shit about their music. (I like Suicide Season but it's nowhere near as good as these three albums, and Count your Blessings is mediocre as fuck)

That's the Spirit would be better for me if A) the songwriting didn't take such a nosedive for the sake of attempting a Lighter and Softer route tonally speaking, B) it weren't so front-loaded, C) Oli wasn't attempting to sound like other butt rock vocalists, and D) this was Sandpit turtle. It was average up the wazoo compared to BMTH's last three records (Suicide Season's at least stupid fun), and I wish they didn't prioritize catchiness because something catchy ≠ good. That said, I can totally see where you come from. My two cents. Someone throw a penny at me.

For me, That's the Spirit just took every good part of Sempiternal and capitalized on it. It started out as a 5/5 for me but then it slowly wore off over time.

TtS is one of those releases that I feel could've benefited from being an EP instead. Take arguably the 4-5 best songs on there and you've got something more coherent.
