both videos were awesome. 2009 Mastodon was on top of the world. everything has gotten worse since then except their live vocals.

Haven't even heard the new one, far as I'm concerned The Hunter was the bullet to the Mastodon head

It wasn't bad, but it wasn't the Mastodon that's in my pantheon. They lost their divinity to go live with the mortals in the Billboard Top 10.

New one has some good moments but it's not worth listening to the whole thing

agreed, minus this one

New one is worth listening all the way through at least once, the problem is it plays its whole hand the first time you listen so there are only a few tracks worth going back to

But Blood Mountain has the drumming - they only recorded this so they'd have slower songs in their set lol
|
| |
yeah, thats it... except they don't play anything from this album in their sets these days save oblivion

Yeah, just yanking everyone's chains but in truth I miss the spazzy drummin' from BM on this one. It's ok, it seems all metal bands post-Tool have to record a proggy album that sounds a bit like Tool, it's not a horrible thing just a predictable thing
|
| |
dude this still has mental drumming! it's more subdued than their earlier albums, sure, but compared to all the other bands on the market
