Semi-disagreed with this because most of the earlier (late 90s thru mid 00s) stuff associated with glitch pop is basically an off-shoot of indietronica even though there was no scene driving it. Contemp stuff tagged as glitch pop is a far more mixed bag, but also hardly less unhelpful as a label than, say, art pop or electro pop
Is it a genre? Probs no (and not anymore if it ever was). Is it real? Ehhhh

I haven't listened to 99% of them and they could be tagged wrong, from the rym charts 44/156 glitch pop releases from 2000-2005 have an indietronica vote. So maybe you are right. But Indietronica is another confused mess that is probably overused so maybe not.

Electropop is very real, highly documented, and easily distinguished (i.e. electropop =/= "electronic pop" or "pop with electronic influences").

It has to be, considering that it was at a time, the single most successful subgenre in all of radio (in America). I won't argue that 'glitch pop' isn't a useful descriptor, of course, it could very well be.

Art pop, however, has its own issues (and let's not get started with 'art rock').
